Still Benefiting from Our Fulbright Experience

Last year, our school had the amazing opportunity to welcome Catie, an American assistant for English teachers, through the Fulbright program. We were selected to participate in the program, and Catie quickly became a valuable part of our team—co-teaching classes, preparing study materials, and bringing lots of positive energy to our English lessons.

Even though Catie has since returned to the U.S., her work continues to live on in our classrooms. We’re still using many of the materials and activities she created or co-created with us.—presentations, quizzes, and a geographical map that helps students learn about different English speaking countries.

Thanks to funding from the Fulbright Foundation, we were also able to buy some great new games and reading materials last year. These resources have become a regular part of our lessons and are helping to keep English classes fun and engaging.

This school year, we’ve already brought back a few favourites. One of them was a housing vocabulary relay, which got students moving, thinking, and learning at the same time. Another hit was School Feud, our own classroom version of Family Feud competition. The students loved it! In fact, last year we even organized a whole-school competition using this game, and it was a big success.

We’re very thankful to the Fulbright program and everyone who made Catie’s visit possible. Her time here enriched our teaching and learning, and it’s great to see the impact continuing today.
